Full-time employees are enrolled in the plan on the first day of employment. This coverage is not available to regular part-time employees.
Robert Morris University pays 100% of the cost of this coverage for staff employees. Faculty contribute 20% of the premium cost.
The monthly benefit is 60% of the employee's base monthly earnings reduced by benefits payable from the other sources listed in the Certificate of Insurance (policy booklet). The maximum monthly benefit is $10,000.
The waiting period for benefits to begin is 90 calendar days.
Termination of Employment
Upon termination of employment, long-term disability insurance will be discontinued on the last day of active employment. Refer to the Leaves of Absence Policy for information on benefits continuance during Long-Term Disability or Workers' Compensation leaves.
