EMPLOYEE BENEFITS MANAGER
Employee Benefits Manager
The Human Resources Department announces the
position of Employee Benefits Manager reporting to the Senior Director, Human
Resources and Payroll.
include: manage planning/administration of employee benefit programs; recommend
new and/or improved benefit plans and cost saving measures; direct, review, and
coordinate updating of plan documents and summary plan descriptions; ensure
compliance with legal requirements of employee benefits programs and payroll
reporting, and prepare/file government/legal reports; ensure accurate and
timely completion of benefit surveys; assist in development of benefit policies
and benefits strategy; conduct analyses and recommend changes to control costs
while continuing to offer a competitive benefits package; supervise accurate
and timely benefits counseling, answering of questions, benefits processing and
assist in resolving issues; manage interface between employees and vendors to
facilitate problem resolution; serve as Secretary to the Retirement Plan
Committee; champion RMU Wellness Initiative - plan Wellness Committee meetings,
implement Lifestyles Rewards program by partnering with Highmark, and promote health
and well-being of RMU employees; develop, recommend and implement a
comprehensive communications strategy to ensure employees are informed of their
benefits; direct development of enrollment materials and benefits orientations;
manage new enrollments, changes, terminations, etc. and entries into appropriate
systems to ensure accurate, up-to-date information; supervise preparation and
accuracy of benefit invoices and premium statements; prepare documentation or
electronic files to effect payment; develop, implement and manage the open
enrollment processes and annual benefits fair; manage short- and long-term
disability plans and leave of absence tracking; ensure compliance with Family
Medical Leave Act; coordinate paperwork and required notifications; manage
COBRA process; manage University time and attendance tracking; oversee faculty
and staff retirements; counsel employees on retiree benefits in the exit
interview as well as during retirement; manage retiree reimbursement program; maintain
employee benefit information on the RMU website; respond to benefits related
questions on the regional CUPA-HR List-Serv; and perform all relevant duties.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration, or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of related Employee Benefits experience and a thorough knowledge of employee benefit regulations and requirements.
Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) certification desired but not required.
Financial analysis/modeling experience preferred.
Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to maintain effective relationships with managers, faculty, staff and legal counsel.
Excellent oral and written communications skills; ability to listen effectively and understand the information being conveyed.
Ability to respond courteously, tactfully and forcefully; ability to make presentations and effectively share information.
Ability to quickly become the internal expert on all RMU benefits and answer most benefits questions immediately, accurately and with confidence; ability to find the answers to difficult questions expediently by accessing the appropriate resource(s).
Unquestionable integrity, confidentiality and professionalism.
Computer software proficiency with MS Office Suite; experience with ADP HR Perspective product or other HRIS plus the ability to quickly learn other software programs.
Attention to detail.
