The Human Resources Department announces the
position of Network Security Analyst reporting to the Director, Information
Responsibilities include: provides technical assistance for both the University’s Network and
Security teams; responsible for the implementation and monitoring of safeguards
against unauthorized access and support and operation of network infrastructure
components, including TCP/IP, Ethernet protocols, wireless, fiber optics,
switching, routing, firewalls, remote access, and Internet connectivity;
creates and confirms security and access controls that are implemented via
switches, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention, and application level
security appliances; participates in risk assessment activities and analyses
the output of such activities to produce recommendations of acceptable risk in
line with the Information Security Policy; works with developers, project
managers, and network engineers to ensure technical and functional requirements
are implemented securely; researches, evaluates and recommends network
improvements as well as information security controls; installs, configures,
monitors, and upgrades network infrastructure components such as switches,
routers, firewalls; produces, maintains and updates documentation regularly;
works under close technical supervision on tasks which are limited in scope;
responsible to monitor and document the progress of each project assigned;
responsible to represent the University to various vendors, suppliers,
customers/users; and performs any and all relevant duties of the position.
Bachelor’s Degree (in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field) or equivalent work experience preferred.
Certifications a plus (Network+, CCNA, SANS, GCIA, etc.)
Experience with UNIX/Linux, Windows Server operating system, firewall technologies, application layer security controls, and IDS/IPS technologies.
Detailed knowledge of TCP/IP networking: networking topology, protocols and services
Specialized knowledge of information security preferred.
Ability to be on call 24x7 for response.
Must be able to handle and move network equipment (switches, routers, servers, etc.) weighing up to 50 pounds in cramped wiring closet and data center environments.
Demonstrated ability to solve problems without direction.
Ability to professionally communicate and represent the University to vendors, suppliers and customers/users.
Ability to complete tasks on time and handle multiple priorities.
Ability to follow standards such as NIST and ITIL.
Ability to work within a team environment.
