Secretary (Part-Time)

The Human Resources Department announces the position of Secretary (Part-Time) reporting to the Director of the CITADEL and Assistant Director of Engaged Learning.

 

Responsibilities include: Interacting and communicating on a professional level with faculty, staff, and student participants in the programs offered by the CITADEL and its component offices; answering telephones, taking messages and scheduling appointments for the CITADEL and Office of Engaged Learning; preparing and mailing communication, including electronic communication, to faculty and student participants in the Teaching, Learning, and Technology and Engaged Learning Programs; maintaining spreadsheets and databases of all participants, training schedules, boards of advisors, and event planning for the Teaching, Learning, and Technology and Engaged Learning Programs; assisting the in coordinating special events, such as scheduling facilities, sending invitations, ordering supplies, and managing attendee lists for events; using technology including, but not limited to, desktop office applications (e.g., Microsoft Office suite) and the RMU student information system; performs any and all relevant duties of the position, as assigned.

 
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent work experience; minimum of three years of office/secretarial experience, preferably in higher education.
  • Position is 20 hours per week, with a preferred schedule of Monday-Friday, 10-2 p.m.  Schedule is somewhat flexible, but must include the lunch hour.
  • Proficient in use of computers including Microsoft Office packages; calendar management; email; willingness to develop computer and technological skills, adjust to other updated technology, and grow professionally as required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, and organizational skills; professional demeanor.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills needed to interact closely and collaboratively with staff, faculty, and students.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise judgment.
